If the information isn't here, I don't know the answer. I don't recommend KTPIC for
the technical novice or anyone without a sense of adventure, self-motivating curiousity,
a willingness to experiment and test, or the persistence to read all the documentation.

Craig White's was the instrumental contributor who
translated the KTPIC documentation and screens
from Kanji (Japanese) to English. Many thanks to
him for the hours spent on a program, which ironically,
he'll probably never use! And myself, I will probably
never fix all the bizarre side effects of having
installed Japanese language support on my XP laptop.
KTPIC was written for phone models, brands, and services
available only in Japan. While there's been some success
getting it to produce files compatible with Sprint PCS Vision
phones, it's not perfect. I cannot guarantee the accuracy
of the translations, our interpretations of the program's
workings, or the workings of the KTPIC program.
Consequently, I don't recommend KTPIC for the technical
novice or anyone without a sense of adventure, self-motivating
curiousity, and a willingness to experiment and test.

KTPIC is a free program that converts images into a format
compatible with cell phones. Its menus and documentation
are in Japanese, and the phones targeted by the software are
specific to Japan. Consequently, it's been an extreme
challenge producing this documentation. The information
contained herein may be in error.
Fortunately, KTPIC works "well enough" with some Sprint PCS Vision
phones. It can create PMD animations (also known as CMX files).
Until KTPIC was discovered, the only (and still the only
"official" way) to create PMD files was with software from
Faith West, Inc. (a U.S. subsidary of the Japanese company Faith, Inc.)
Faith partnered with Qualcomm to bring the CMX format (Compact Media Extensions)
to U.S. phones. I will refer to these as PMD files rather than CMX
files since the CMX files have ".PMD" extensions. You can read about
the CMX file format at http://www.cdmatech.com/solutions/products/cmx.html.

The software from Faith West, Inc. is superior to KTPIC because
it IS designed to create PMD files for Sprint PCS Vision
phones. Consequently, it can create both animated screen savers
and animated ringers (animation WITH sound). But Faith has refused
to sell their toolkit to individuals, and the corporate price,
I'm told, is extremely high (about $500.00?).
Therefore, techie adventurers have turned to KTPIC to create PMD files.
KTPIC was created in the spring/summer of 2002. The "KT" comes from the
Japanese term "keitai" (pronounced "kay tie"), which means "portable."
Cell phones are "ketai denwa" or "portable phone."

UPDATE 08.09.2004. Thanks to Mike West who sent me version 1.14a. Since neither of us
can read Japanese, we're uncertain how it's different. So I will leave both versions
on the we site for now.
You can download KTPIC100.LZH it from the
author's web site.
The file is a compressed in the old LHA archive format. You'll need LHA or WinRar to
extract the individual files.
But, for your convenience, I've recompressed the files in the ZIP archive format. You can
use WinZip, PKzip, etc. to extract the files. Installation instructions are given
in the translated "help file" (see the Table of Contents above).

From left to right, top to bottom:

KTPIC is a tool that creates animated screen savers and static wallpaper
images. You can adjust both the size of an image, crop it, or change its
color depth. KTPIC supports pallettes of 65,536 colors (32-bit), 32,768
colors (16-bit), 256 colors (8-bit), 16 colors (4 bit),or just black and
white.

Uncompress KTPIC100.LZH using LHA or WinRAR into the directory from where you want to run it.
To uninstall, simply delete all the files that you uncompressed in that installation diretory.
KTPIC doesn't use any speciall DLL's or the like, and doesn't place any entries into the
Windows registry.

Size selection
With size selection, size and drawing manner etc. of the image which is opened from now are specified.

The screen saver * dispatching animation * EZ animation for au and Tu-Ka
can create with EZ animation creation wizard, simply with wizard format.
